How to Spray Paint

Spray painting may seem simple. However, there are a lot of ways things can go wrong. Follow these tips and tricks to make your piece a work of art!

Prepare Your Area

Work in an area with good ventilation away from sparks or flames. Keep your can away from any heat. Start with a clean and dry surface on the object you’re painting. If your spray paint does not include a primer, be sure to apply one yourself.

The Spraying Process

Shake the spray paint can vigorously before spraying. This prevents a false start which may spatter bubbles/thicker bits onto your object.  Do not point the can spout directly at the surface of the object. This prevents drips.  Instead, slowly pass the can over the surface of your object in a steady motion. Be sure to hold the can 6-8 inches away from objects’ surface. Turn and rotate the object to be sure to get all surfaces evenly. To make the job even smoother, try Ace’s Can Gun. The Can Gun puts pain-free, professional style spraying right at your fingertips.

Clear The Nozzle

Clear the tip after each use. Hold the can upside down and spray the paint so a clear gas appears. This ensures that the can is able to be used again when needed.
